At the Frazetta Museum.

I had the chance to go with fellow artist Rags Morales and his girlfriend to see the Frazetta museum once again. I have been there a number of times and stayed over at the house a couple of times. The photo shows Frank and I a good while ago and this months visit. Always a memorable visit and I go home with the wonder of his work cemented in my mind.

The museum is closed for the winter but opens again in the spring. It is a must-see for anyone who loves art and specifically the comics and fantasy genre. Frank has no peers in this area. The absolute best.

Here are a few photos I took at the BB King club in Times Square, NYC. Playing was Ralph Stanley, a relative on my Father's side. He is known also for the soundtrack to 'O' Brother, Where art thou?' motion picture. After all this time I finally got to meet him and to say Hi!

TV and Movies Extra

I am an extra in the new series "Kings". It premiers March 15th. I am in a crowd scene while a speech is being given. Near the back by the doors. A cold winter day and they had to be open. It was shot right around the corner from my old apartment in NYC.

I can be found in a couple of scenes as an extra in the new Meryl Streep movie 'Julie & Julia' due out sometime later this year. Main scene I can be found in is me going out a Train station door as they come in. It was a great chance to hang out and see how a shoot goes down. A lot of work and a lot of waiting.

I have gotten back in contact with fellow artist Ken Hooper. We had collaborated on some DC covers and some pin-ups a decade ago.

We are now doing samples and showing them around. Here is a Dr. Strange page and my inking on it. I am posting other work also, to follow. (All is done with india ink and brush).

A fellow artist saw some of my retouch work and asked me to take a very old and damaged photo of his son and restore it. Here is the before and after. The final result was very well received!

Marvel: Conan the Barbarian- Treasure of Tranicos

I inked over the loose background pencils on Gil Kane and John Bucema's Treasure of Tranicos issue. I then tooth brushed and Zip-A-Toned the entire story including the figures. Unfortunately i didn't receive credit as background inker/ finisher but I did the work all the same.

Halston HangTag Art for Mens apparel

Halston wanted an edgy " with the times!' hang tag for it mens apparel section. For this promotional piece I did a pencil render of the photo and then inked it. After scanning it in I was told by the client to go wild so I composited it with the original photo and played around with some blendings and came up with this take.

Heavy Metal - Pugilist

I was asked by the Artist, Greg Follender to ink a series of stories for Heavy Metal magazine. The series is called The Pugilist, the first story printed in black & white was only five pages. The following story was also colored by Greg and myself using Photoshop. The third installment has been pencilled and inked and is now in the middle of the coloring phase. It will be 38 pages in length and should (with luck) be on the stands in 2009.

I was teaching Photoshop at FIT (Fashion Institute in New York City) a few years ago and this illustration was done on the spot from scratch as a demo of layers, textures and compositing. Besides blowing away the students watching it happen before their eyes... It did the same to me and I am very happy with it.
